Tokyo, April 17, 2012 – Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced today it has launched as of this month its Seventh Environmental Plan, a three-year action plan aligned with Environmental Vision 2021, the long-term environmental management vision of the Mitsubishi Electric Group. The plan aims to contribute to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions on both the production and end-use sides, supports other efforts to realize recycling-based societies and expands environmental business.

Tokyo, April 16, 2012 – Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced today that it has decided to restructure its lighting business for greater efficiency in expanding its business and responding to rapid developments in light-emitting diode (LED) technologies and other market conditions in the Japanese lighting industry. The company’s three lighting-related affiliates will be merged as of October 1, 2012, with further details to be decided.

Mitsubishi Corporation (“MC”), Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (“MMC”) and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (“Mitsubishi Electric”) have completed the development and begun the operation of “M-tech Labo,” a smart grid demonstration system that utilizes rechargeable batteries in Electric Vehicles (“EVs”) for electric-demand leveling of factory facilities. Tokyo Institute of Technology is playing an advisory role for the project. This demonstration project is part of the KEIHANNA Eco-City Next-Generation Energy and Social Systems Demonstration Project, one of the four smart grid initiatives authorized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Mitsubishi Electric Europe B.V. today announces the appointment of Kei Uruma to the role of President and CEO of the company's European operations. Based at Mitsubishi Electric's European Corporate Office in Uxbridge, Mr. Uruma's new responsibilities include leading the European Sales Company Mitsubishi Electric Europe B.V., as well as the role of head representative of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation in Europe.
