London, 22 May, 2012 – Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced today it has been chosen by Volvo Car Corporation as a partner to develop next-generation automotive infotainment systems for all Volvo vehicles launched from November 2013 onwards.

Since 1969, Mitsubishi Electric has been supplying Volvo with car audios, navigation systems and other infotainment equipment. The company’s track record as a reliable supplier, as well as its technological capabilities and history of developing strong solutions, all were important factors in Volvo’s decision.

Tokyo, April 16, 2012 – Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced today that it has decided to restructure its lighting business for greater efficiency in expanding its business and responding to rapid developments in light-emitting diode (LED) technologies and other market conditions in the Japanese lighting industry. The company’s three lighting-related affiliates will be merged as of October 1, 2012, with further details to be decided.

Mitsubishi Corporation (“MC”), Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (“MMC”) and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (“Mitsubishi Electric”) have completed the development and begun the operation of “M-tech Labo,” a smart grid demonstration system that utilizes rechargeable batteries in Electric Vehicles (“EVs”) for electric-demand leveling of factory facilities. Tokyo Institute of Technology is playing an advisory role for the project. This demonstration project is part of the KEIHANNA Eco-City Next-Generation Energy and Social Systems Demonstration Project, one of the four smart grid initiatives authorized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
